I BOUGHT THE WRONG DISTRIBUTOR DIDNT I
Hey guys I have a tpi 305 out of an 88. I Just about finshed installing my stealth ram, and dropped in my distributor. But when looking at my stock distributor, compared to my new one, my old one has a lot more wires and connectors!!!!! I bought the "MSD Pro-Billet Small Diameter Chevrolet V8 Distributor PN 8570" I was reading on the forums and such and saw that I need a small cap dizzy to fit my HSR. It never enterned my mind that there might be different or specific dizzys!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Well if I did buy the wrong dizzy, could someone please tell what one I do need. And Please let me know if there is anyway that I could buy or make something to get this dizzy to work. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

The 8570 is a non-computer controlled magnetic trigger with centrifugal advance that must be used with an ignition box like an MSD 6.
You need a "ready-to-run" distirbutor, like the 8366.

ok so, i looked at the picture but my dizzy has wires coming off it with a plug on the end. This one has plugs on the dizzys with no wires coming off it. My car was a factory 85tpi but the motor was replaced, is it possible that when the sway was done the motor was taken out of an 88 and the factory dizzy was used?

It doesn't matter much where the plugs are on a piece of wire, or on the distributor itself, as long as they're there, and they share the same purpose.

That should be the one. Might want to do a quick search to see if anyone else has used it with the stealth ram.

The 8366 is the one you want (this is what I am running), but you will probably have to make some wiring modifications.
We will need to see images of the wires/connectors you currently have so that we can tell you what needs to be done, since your car is an 85 with an 88 setup and I don't know what the previous owners did with the wiring.

I'm also running MSD part #8366 with my Stealthram. This was on a 1991 TPI car and a direct replacement for my setup though.

Re: I BOUGHT THE WRONG DISTRIBUTOR DIDNT I
Hi guys/girls, hoping you can help me with an ignition-parts issue. My car is a -86 Z28, once upon a time housing a 305 tpi. Now, the engine is a -72 350 4-bolt. I am waiting for my HSR pn: 91404211, and the CompCams kit CCA-CL12-430-8, witch is a retro-fit hydraulic roller cam kit.
When I called the techhelp at CompCams to ask if my new-ordered MSD-8366 will fit to the distributor-gear on the cam, he asked what color the gear on the distributor was. Well, since I don’t have the distributor yet I didn’t now. But I now that MSD list the 8366 as a direct-fit on sb -87 to -95. He told the parts should go together; I was not convinced by his answer. Since the parts have to be shipped to Norway I want to be safe about this before they are shipped.
Is there anyone out there who has any thoughts about the matter? Have I ordered the wrong distributor?
Thanks
