Firebird Headlights....

this is my first post, when a problem comes along, I usually figure it out myself. That being said..I just wanted to see if anyone had an opinion on this..

I just fixed the drivers side headlight on my 85 Trans Am motor with TDS's kit, and both motors work great now. Then, minutes later, I had a new problem. Headlights go up fine, but whenever I turn the switch off, the fuse for the motors and taillights blows.

I'm pretty sure It's the isolation relay. I disconnected the two actuator relays and the fuse still blew. Disconnected the isolation relay, the fuse didn't blow.

I just wanted to know if anyone knows if it's possible for a bad relay to cause a fuse to blow.

I have a similar problem. I've been tracing it for weeks and still no answer from here. I'm starting to believe that it is a shorted wire from the parking lights. I just still haven't found the issue. Hopefully one of us can find it and help eachother out.

Well I know it isn't my parking lights..If I unplug the isolation relay, the problem goes away. So the parking lights, fog lights, and wiring up to the isolation relay all check out...

Re: Firebird Headlights....

There's a really good chance that the diode in the isolation relay is shorted (not open).

Re: Firebird Headlights....

I figured out the problem a while ago. It was the brass gear sold by top down solutions. When the light went all the way down, power was sent trough the hight torque switch all the way through to ground. I wrapped some electrical tape around the contacts of the high torque switch in the headlight motor, problem gone. You get he idea.
