electronics help please

first off let me start by saying i suck with electrical work.
now that thats out of the way, i have some switches in the car i am using to hook some things up. what i would like is to have power to them that will cut off with the key. what i have right now is a direct wire going to an empty circuit from the fuse box, however, it likes to blow the fuse for my gauges, causing them to not work at all. i was wondering if i could put a fuse back in for my fans and cut the wire going out of the fuse panel and take the power from there, i dont use my stock fan wiring as i put in an aftermarket controller for the fans.
i also want to know, that if the above is possible, that would give me one power wire going to these new switches. however, i have 4 or 5 switches, how can i split one wire to go to multiple switches? and just fyi i have circuit breakers on all switches to keep the electronics protected.
and lastly, if i can take the power from the fan circuit in the fuse box, how do i know what size fuse to put in there? or should i just get the power from the wire that goes into the fusebox not the one going out of the fuse box? meaning i would just take the power from the wire before the fusebox to eliminate the fuse at the fuse box.
i hope this is clear enough for understanding
and btw, thanks for any advice on this, i really am not good with electronics

wow i'm ok with electronics but that sounds way confuseing, i would say skip the stock fuse block and run a power wire from the battery to a relay and wire that into a hot key on wire, then run that relay's output to a small aftermarket fuseblock to work each of your switches. that way you can have each individual system protected by an appropriate fuse and will look a lot neater.

well the switches already have circuit breakers in them so i dont need fuses. i was basically just wanting to get the power from a wire thats already hot at the fuse box, hence taking it from the old fan fuse thats not in use any more. i dont want to have to add an aftermarket fuse box. i just want to have some hot leads going to a few switches that only come on with the key, is there any other way to do that?

Take a look at the fuse block. There will be empty terminals that have say IGN with arrows pointing to them. these supply power only when the ignition is turned on.

Re: electronics help please

i did that to plug in my speedo converter box and thsta when it started blowing the gauge fuse. however, when i plugged it in before i didnt have a fuse on the power wire to the converter. this time i will have circuit breakers on every switch but am still worried about the gauge fuse blowing. will it make a difference this time now that i will have circuit breakers on the switches that will power the electronics?
