Need pics of engine temp sender and wire...

I finally got my Hooker headers installed, but on the passenger side, above the starter area the mechanic totally destroyed the plug that connects to the engine temp sender. Now I believe its the engine temp sender because my engine temp gauge is not receiving a signal. After I inspected the situation, I notice it was kinda "half-assed" hanging there. I went to the junkyard, but could not find what I was looking for. Does anyone have any pics of the sender with the wire? And if possible, if anybody has one laying around, I could possibly buy? Thanks for your help...

Re: Need pics of engine temp sender and wire...

The temp sender for the gauge is on the driver side head between the first two spark plugs.

The pass side head has the secondary fan switch for TPI dual fans.

The ECM reads the engine temperature from the CTS (Coolant Temp Sensor) on the front of the block, below the Throttle Body.

Hope this helps.

Wish i had a good camera but maybe this will help. The temp sensor connector is a little white/yellowish rectangualr slide on clip. when i did my headers i cracked mine up a little bit as well as my fan switch. That heat just deteriorates that plastic. you might just want to look on the net for a new temp sensor and they might have a pic of a new connector

Re: Need pics of engine temp sender and wire...

Ok, that makes more sense. I found an old pic of the wire that was "half-assed" hanging. (see attatchent). And it does make sense. When I fisrt got in the car (before I discovered the wire), as soon as the key got to the "acc on" position, the right-side fan came on. As soon as I disconnected the wire, the fan died. Do you know where I can get this replacement? I still need a pic of the temp sender...Thanks alot guys..
(ps. never thought taking random pics under the car would ever come in handy)...

Do you know how many searches I've done and never found this thread, after 1 year of searching for what this darn thing looked like I finally get to see it. YES, make this thread a STICKY, now I can finish up my engine in my 86, and get it over to the mech for a final once over
