What is wrong with my high beams?
Hey guys, I need some help. My high beams always worked just fine, but one day they just stopped working. When I pull the turn signal back it does not click into place anymore. So do you guys know if the whole turn signal needs to be replaced or what?
Thanks

Sounds like maybe the rod is off either on the signal bar or possibly down at the switch. Does the signal bar feel loose or is the tension the same while they were working?

Re: What is wrong with my high beams?
A common problem is that the hi/lo beam switch gets loose and no amount of pulling on the turn signal stalk can switch the beams.
The turn signal stalk merely pushes on a metal rod that follows the steering column to the hi/lo beam switch that's attached to the steering column under the dash. Usually, it just takes 10 minutes to readjust the switch and then it works fine again.
Actaully we have a write-up on the this issue on our ATGO page, right here: http://www.austinthirdgen.org/module...howpage&pid=18
Hope this helps.

Yes it's easy to fix, I had the same problem. Look under your dash and pull back the high beam lever... you will see a white plastic deal there. You have to loosen the two screws that hold it on the steering column, adjust it, and tighten them back down. It shouldn't take too long depending on how big your hands are

Re: What is wrong with my high beams?
I would only use the adjustment procedures described above if the steering column is still tight. A loose column can cause it to come out of adjustment but re-adjusting it at the switch doesn't fix the loose tilt.
If the tilt is tight, go for it.

I have the same problem. But when the column is dropped they work like a champ. But as soon as you bolt it back up the lever will get really hard to pull. I can pull the lever once then it stops. Adam :-)
