Using an externally regulated alternator? will it work?

I am Rebuilding a 1991 camaro. I tore ALL of the previous wiring harness out for the TBI, Interior, windows, EVERYTHING. I purchased a knockoff wiring harness which actually is pretty nice. Besides that fact, the engine is carbeurated now with no ecm in the car. I bought a "one wire" alternator from the local parts store.

It's an alternator that has a sticker on it saying "EXTERNALLY REGULATED. when replacing this alternator it is a good idea to replace the voltage regulator." It has a "BAT" post, a "GND" post and two terminals. One terminal is "S" (which i know is the sensing wire) and the other is a "-" terminal which i don;t knw about.

My question is:
Can I and should I try to get an external regulator for this charging system or should I bring the new alternator back and get one with an internal voltage regulator. I don't mind having either external or internal regulator. I just want to know your opinion and if i can do the external regulator how should I wire this sucka?

Your responses are much appreciated.
