Where in the world is it?
I'm looking for the location of the headlight relay and the flashers for my 88 Camaro. I've taken the lower dash component off that surrounds the fuse block but I still haven't found it. HELP!

Re: Where in the world is it?
An 88 Camaro doesn't have a headlight relay, just a foglight relay. The headlight switch does contain a built in circuit breaker which is self resetting. Furthermore, the headlight feed is from a fusible link located at the starter.
Also the flashers are located on top of the convenience center which is to the right of the steering column and directly behind the ALDL connector. The turn flasher is the one located closest to the ALDL connector. The convenience center is where that horrible sound comes from when the lights are left on, or the ke yis left in the Ignigtion with the door open.
That should help you find it.

Here is where I'm at: When I engage the the headlight switch the interior lights come on, the rear lights come on, but the headlights won't come on. Additionally, the driver's side blinker will not work, but the other one works fine.

my previous reply got lost....oh well
1 problem at a time. The most common problem with turn signals is either a bad light socket, or bad ground behind the head lights. There is one ground for each side of the car for the lights. If the grounds are also possible for the headlights but not if both are out. For the headlights, start at the hi/lo beam switch under the dash on the steering column. The switch is on the left side with 3 wires going to it.
Yellow wire = 12v in from headlight switch (12v with headlight switch on)
Tan wire = 12v out to low beams (12v with low beam on)
green wire = 12v out to high beams (12v with high beam on)
If there is no power at the yellow, suspect the switch. The fusible link
must be ok if other lights are working. Electrical is easy, some people just get overwhelmed by it. We will check on other things after you check these basics first.

Re: Where in the world is it?
I'm currently having the same problem in my '87 Trans Am. I suspect what I THINK is a burnt out relay, but this will definitely help me troubleshooting!
Oh, and what I mean by "having the same problem" is: My int. lights, console lights, parking lights, and brake lights work fine. I KNOW I have a bad flasher on the drivers side(wont click when pressed down to turn). The main problem I have, is that my headlights dont work at all. even after I bought new bulbs & checked the fuses(the car was sitting for two years, and the headlights worked back in January of this year, plus the current bulbs were bought in March of 2005).
Again, thanks!
