92 camaro wont start. already did some diag

car all of a sudden wont crank or solenoid click.

i made sure my starter , starter bolts, starter mount, and all wires / studs were clean.

made sure the two grounds from the flowchart were good.

i back probed, the starter enable relay terminal B, it gets battery voltage when i go to start. also, tossed in an extra relay i had, no go...

my flowchart SAYS to go to diagnosing the passkey system but i dont have that sheet. does anybody here?

i also, went ahead and checked for voltage at the terminal S and ground, battery voltage

I also went from terminal S to the starter bolts, Battery voltage.

so... anybody got the diagram for the vats key stuff diagnosis.... also, had my starter tested at autozone while i had it off and cleaned it... they tested it 6-7 times, all good...

any help? i have to go to work and i need my car running....

Same exact problem. Tried 3 different good starters, new battery, voltage at all points. The mechanic even direct wired the battery to starter, won't even try to start. Car was driving fine on friday...hasn't started since.

well i found this thing on vats.

im ohmed out my keys resistor and got 9.4 kohms.

so based on the chart i have im gonna go pick up a 9530 ohm resistor and stuff it in there. after that, it can only be a break in a wire somewhere....

and i think the car has a fuel pressure switch, if ti reads 0 it wont allow the car to start, well my fuel psi guage is saying it has fine pressure.. so..

heres is that vats article i found.. you might find it useful...

If you have a fuel pressure switch, it is aftermarket then. Our stock engines do not use a fuel pressure switch.

You're on the right track with the diagnosing. You need to go forward or backwards throught the starting circuit to find where it is interrupted. It could be the ignition cylinder, connector, wire, VATS box, VATS relay, more wires ...

If the bypass resistor works, that would point to a bad ignition cylinder or wires in the steering column.

Good luck and keep us posted.

yep, ohm'd out my key, 9.4kohms
ohmd out my connector under the dash (white wires , and white white/purple) and got 1.13ohms and if i wiggled it i got like 37 ohms... if it would read anything over than ofl while shakin it around..

went to store and bought a 5 pack of 4.7kohm resistors for $1.05,
slapped them bad boys in, vroom staretd right up..

now tell me why my alarm that used to go "chirp" is now going wooo.. like it died or has a low batt or something?

just wanted to add that the problem was obviously wiring / or internal ignition switch brush contacts problem. it wasnt transferring the resistance reading down the line to the vats module so i intercepted it at the connector and did the quick resistor fix. im gonna go punch the chip out of my key now.
