Trying to disconnect the key chip feature on 90-92 camaro, NEED HELP!
Does anyone know what two wires to disconnect to get rid of the key chip feature? My buddy knows someone that did it by disconnecting two wires. My ignition reads the chip sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. I want to put an ignition that goes in 82-89 camaro so I don't have to worry about it anymore.

Not only do you need to disconnect the 2-wire plug located on the steering column, below the dash, but you need to solder in the correct resistor to match the one in the key. BTW I have an 89 IROC and it has the chip in the key.

go to my thread like.. 2 threads down. i had the same problem. ohm the chip on your key. put it in and have someone try and "start" the car (batt unplugged) and find the connector with two REALLY SMALL white wires, its at the bash of the dash under the steering coloumn it goes from two tiny white wires to a white, and a white w/purple stripe thicker 14gauge wires. take that off and ohm out the two tiny wires while "starting" the car. it should read the same, if it doesnt, go get the resistors that add up to your keys chip value, and wire them in series, and put them in the BIG WIRE side of the connector. car will start...
soldering would be the best way to do it, but i just stripped back the conenctor and crimped on my resistors, also, tape them up so they dont cross before the resistors... youll have the same damn problem again if they do cross...
but yea. check out my thread below.
