Could someone measure thier alternator and tell me what it's putting out @ idle voltage wise? Thanks!

My car's a 1990 TPI set-up and it's only putting out around 11.99 - 12.00 volts @ idle......two different parts stores says my alternator is fine...it's brand new and the battery is new.

A fully charged battery should read 12.6V and a good alternator should have a 13-14 Volt output. If the alternator tests good at two different places you might have a wiring issue with the wires that plug into the regulator.

Hey thanks for the reply,

I figured it out, one of the wires on the plug that went to the bulb in the dash was acting up. The bulb was blown...fixed that and started getting 14.5 volts again.

13.2-14.8 Volts is good, anything lower, or above, is bad.
