pulses per mile fault

ok I just got my car started (95 LT1 in a 87 firebird) since I had it bored to a 12.5:1 compression 383. I also sent my computer out to PCMforless to get reconfiguered for the compression and added cubic inches. Now I am seeing code 97 4K pulses per mile fault? I have replaced the VSS sensor and still the code shows up. Other then the added engine changes I put in a different ignition box, Malory hifire to control the nitrous and rebuilt the tranny. Is the ignition causing this code? Is it in the computer? tranny? I have races this saterday what could happen if I run with this code?

Any Ideas?
----------
code reads on computer: 97 4K pulses per mile fault (QDM)

95 LT1 and 4l60e

Does the speedometer show anything? Does it show correctly? What sensor did you replace the VSS with? The 3rdgen or 4thgen sensor?

If you run with a speedometer code, it won't hurt anything. Except, your tranny might not lock up the TCC in O/D.

Re: pulses per mile fault

The speedo has never been hooked up in this car. I bought the cable -x to convert from an electronic to a mechanical speedo I just never hooded it up yet. But last year I never had this code and the speedo was the same way, unhooked.

As for the sensor I replaced it with it looks the same as the 95 4l60e sensor.

I also checked the reference voltage going to the vss and it is 5 volts, right where it should be.

Any ideas?
