Need Help Wiring Mallory Box!!!

Well tonight I began setting up my box, and realized I wasn't told about the stupid extra gm harness that is not included. So rather than paying another 12 dollars in Handling from jegs for a 26 dollar harness I figured I could just splice the purple and green wires into the pickup of the dist. But at this point it's not firing so I'm guessing that's not possible? Anybody done this without the harness? I have a non comp dist now. I've got power at the battery connection and the red 12v wire. No power coming from the orange wire which doesn't make sense to me, cause that's the only wire coming from the box to the coil now? I almost want to connect the old power wire to the batt terminal that isn't used now, but my buddy fried a MSD box last month doing something similar to that so I'm not attempting that for the moment.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Re: Need Help Wiring Mallory Box!!!

Ok got it to run finally. Had to remove the gm ignition module and splice wires in its place. But now it runs like *** at idle. If I try to idle it down to 900rpm then it starts missing and the tach jumps all over spastically. So I know it's something to do with the box. If I idle it up over 1000 it does better. When I torque it up and launch I get alot more power but it doesn't pull as strong up top. So I'm really confused at this point.

Any ideas? I've got two weeks to get this running perfect for my test and tune coming up, and I don't want to be fighting this stupid box.

Yeah, there is another wire inside the distributor that has to be cut. So you pretty much redo all the wires inside the distributor.
