REAL HID CONVERSION
i have the fortune of having a girlfriend whose dad works at a body shop. In our most recent build, (1989 IROC Z 5-SPEED CONVERTIBLE) we are planning to install real HID headlights from a BMW/MERCEDES from kits he has collected from crashed cars. i have the bulbs, headlight computer and bought aftermarket headlights in which i couls insert the bulb into. My question is will i fry any wires? the comp is 12v and bulbs are 35W and theyre real bright. please any info would help.

Re: REAL HID CONVERSION
You should be fine with the stock wiring, as the HID's will draw less power than your stock headlights. Or, look at the wire size on the HID power supplies you'll be installing and use wire to match it (if it's larger than stock).
Re: REAL HID CONVERSION
Most likely no.. BUT the ballasts (what you're apparently calling the "comp") do draw a good bit of current on startup. I don't think the spike is enough to do any damage anywhere. Without knowing all the specifics of your vehicle, I'd say you're probably fine. As kev said, the original vehicle's wire gauge will give you a hint if your wire gauge is what's concerning you.

Re: REAL HID CONVERSION
thanks for help guys! yeah i found out they're called ballasts, and my gf's dad has tons of them from wrecked cars at his shop. (they mostly work on bmw's mercedes's & lexus. i didnt think their would be a problem either since the ballasts is 12V and bulbs only 35W. let me tell you though, what a differance from halogen! thanks!
