Car dies ALOT while driving
Ok i have an 88 gta with a 350 tpi. The car just keeps dying each time i hit a bump or one day it just died when i punched the steering colmn. lately its been dying around turns too. The car used to not start up agian because of the VATS system. id have to wait a while before it would restart. but then i overrided the vats system by doing the resistor trick, the car still dies but im able to restart it instantly. Somtimes i go a week with out it dying or other times it will die as many times as i turn in a day. Im not sure if this is the lock cylender or the Vats module... or a loose wire elsewere. hoping some one would help me out Ive decided not to drive it untill it gets fixed due to safty reasons and im getting with drawls .

You need to figure out which system is shutting off. Does your radio also cut out?
It may be the fuel pump wires.

it seems to just shut down with out anything shutting off. but the security light does come on. if i have the stereo on loud i cant tell the car shut off untill i step on the gas. is there a spot that i should look first for the fuel pump wires?

Re: Car dies ALOT while driving
ok just randomly out of curiosity i was driving and i hit my steering column right above the ignition cylinder and the car shut off. radio stayed on and the security light turned on. i tossed it in nutral and started it up agian. tried to hit the colmn to get the same results but nothing happend. i kinda pulled the key back just a bit and it shut down instantly ( and it was way too easy to turn the key i hardly even touched it)
so im guessing this is my problem. can i buy a new ignition cyclinder with keys some where? i dont want to keep my vats system overrided though id like to reconnect it. and any one know what fuse i pull to stop the horn? wheni pull the horn cap off the steering wheel it always honks alot and its annoying!
