Ok. I realize that this sounds weird but here goes. I am running a turbo motor with an aftermarket ecu (big stuff 3 ) and I wish to make a small readout board (like the screen on a scanmaster) so that I can monitor knock in real time. The ECU data logs so I don't really need to run a redundant unit such as a scanmaster but I would like to see the knock parameter in real time. Anyone have any ideas? Or am I on crack and should just use a scanmaster as a $400 monitor? thanks. John

do you want the actualy knock readout in numbers?if you are just worried about seeing a high or low reading why not check out the knock gauges everyone uses on GN's and turbo TA's it's a 2 1/16 gauge and goes from red to green depending on knock. you may also want to check summit cuz I'm pretty sure i have seen some knock meters.

MSD still makes one I think, Pretty cheap. Sensor and
and digital gauge.
We used them in our inboard boats with with over the transom headers. Noise, couldn't hear
Worked great.
Just keep backing timing off until led lites quit lighting.
Had a little problem with flat tappets and rollers cams
with loose lashes though.

Most of these gauges use the stock ECU knock module to power them. Unfortunatly, I am using a Big Stuff 3 ECU and I don't know if it will support the gauge. I did want to see it in numbers if possible but will settle for lights if that is what I can get.Originally Posted by onesickss

You can power them with the stock knock module, which is seperate from the ECM.

That is the best idea I have heard yet. I was erroniously thinking that the module was in the ECM like the later R motor style ECM's. duh! Sometimes my brain thinks it is way to smart for the simple solutions. Thanks!
