90 Firebird Hatch Pulldown Help!!!

I did search, but need some specifics. The motorized hatch pulldown is broke. The hatch latches shut but wont pull down and engage (can not hear the motor), the key will not open it, only the release button from inside the car will pop it open. I inspected it while still on the car, the motor is loose (it wiggles when I touch it) and when it comes in contact w/the copper part it starts to run. So its broke free from the copper contacts (from what I can see) and is not working. I had to disconnect the hatch light (cause it stayed on).
I went to TDS website, based on this, what specifically do I need to get to repair it? The plastic sleeves do look bad and cracked and the motor works so...?????

You may have to replace the motor if the contacts are broke. Make sure your relay is good, power coming to it..Mine is like yours but the key will open mine, but the power release want work at all. Mine is in a thousand parts right now, so it's not a problem. It would work occasionally before it quit.

Radtoy89, I do have power to it...
-It seems a top chunk of the plastic housing (cheap *** GM) that hold the motor in place has cracked off and the motor is hanging off the contacts. If I wiggle it to make contact the motor will run (although since the hatch is up it should not be running right?) Electric/ground issue I assume since its broken??
-The key did work to pop it now (did not the other day).
-Can I get away with a rebuild kit or should I hit ebay for a whole replacement?? (they are not cheap!!)
-Wish I could just go back to non-motorized hatch release (any thread on how to do that???)

To hell with this motorized crap! Motor housing is cracked, nut is stripped, so I turned it into a MANUAL like it should have been in the 1st place. I jammed some 2 1/2" pieces of wood in the tracks to keep it in the down position (they ain't movin or shifting I made sure of that) and VIOLA, it closes and opens like it should again w/o the pulldown BS! and the key works as well as the release from inside.

If you want the motorized hatch to work again, go to your local scrap yard and pull a the whole unit from another car. Then use the two to make one good unit, that's what I did and mine works great. Don't forget to lube the plastic gear and tracks while you have it apart.

I like it better as a "manual", no more headaches this way and it shuts tighter than before. What was GM thinking...
