89 GTA brake light issues
I have an 89 GTA that i just got back on the road after a spun rod bearing in the old 350. Now every time i hit the brakes or go to use the hazard lights, it blows the 20 amp hazard/stop light fuse. I obviously have a working switch because it sends power to the tail for a split second before it blows the fuse, (they do flash before blowing the fuse). Is my problem with the wiring in the tail or what? If anyone could give me any insight on this, that would be great.

Did you try checking your defroster grid connections? They connect to your rear hatch struts and may have gotten a little corroded. Sounds crazy but if they are not connected right, every time you touch the brakes the defroster grid will come on. Did you remember to reconnect all of the ground straps in the engine bay and everywhere else? Not just the battery cables....just ideas.

Re: 89 GTA brake light issues
Sorry for the late response, i've had alot going on lately. I did think it sounded kind of crazy with the whole defroster grid and all, but i unhooked the grid connections, and popped in another fuse , and I couldn't believe my eyes. I have brake lights again. I thought i was going to have to trace the wires and inspect them all for places where they could be grounding out. But not now. Thanks Brother Al.
