I really miss cruise control - my RS does have it - has anyone had success transplanting one from a junkyard car? Aftermarket kits?

 

I put one in an older Blazer, Audiovox, from Autozone. Worked great but it uses a small square control panel rather than the turn signal stalk switch.

You could swap a factory cruise set up in without any huge problems. It would be easiest if you could get everything from a single donor car.

 

What all would that intail? I would need the little signal stick and the cruise control unit, cables... what else? Also, would a fourth gen cc unit fit? It's more likly to work that a 15 yr old equivalent. thanks! - Nate

 

I did this myself in a 91. You need the turn signal stalk with the cruise switches, wiring from the switch thrugh the steering column, 2 brake pedal switches, cruise module, cruise servo, and two wiring harnesses, one from the cruise module to the brake switches, and another that is bundled with a vacuum hose that connects to the cruise servo.

 

If I printed this and took it to the local junkyard, I'm sure they could get this stuff for me.

 

If you can, try to talk them into letting you take it off the car yourself. That way you get to see how everything is installed.

 

We have several pick and pull lots by me but not enough Camaros or Firebirds...

 

our scrap yards seem expensive, hopefully I canfind a good deal.
