is there a way to test a msd 6a box?
im new to msd ignitions and i want to test and see if my box is still good. i got it used when i bought my motor. when key it turned to accessory the coil isnt even getting 1 volt of power?? battery is good

alrihgt i dunno if it makes a difference but i have an msd distributor with magnetic pickup and a blaster coil. im pretty sure the coil should be gettign 12 volts when cranking right?

The MSD is a capactive ignition, the coil primary will only have power for a brief instant when the coil actually fires.
If you're using the magnetic trigger, use a piece of wire to short out the green and purple wires in the magnetic pickup connector, and then pull the wire out. Each time you pull the wire out you should get a spark. Usually you can actually hear the box click when it happens.
