Since I bought my car it has always pinged.Now I water logged my old motor and put in a built 305.Now I still have a pinging issue.If in park it will rev to 7k and never ping.But if im driving under a load and hammer it it begins to ping and rather badly.Now when I did the motor swap I noticed I had a sensor that didnt have any wiring.Come to find out its my knock sensor.Ive found the wiring for it but it doesnt have the plug and the previous owner has all the wiring wrapped up tight.Do I need to run the knock sensor??What else can be done to get rid of the ping under load??My base timing is set at 5 degrees btdc.Do I need to hook up the knock sensor is my main Question I guess??Do I still need it if I get my car tuned??

 

Yes Knock sensor is good I would be definitely be running it! Hook it back up for sure.
