Raise headlights Manually.
Hi,
I tought it was possible to raise the headlights manually on 82-92 Firebirds by twisting the black ****/diall beside each headlight. I tried this but nothing happened. Is this just in my imagination or is it possible?. The headlights go up and down normally from the light switch inside the car so I guess that the motors are fine.
Thanks.

Yeah. But it's S L O W. Keep turning the ****, and see if they go up. It takes several turns just to engage and start them moving, muchless it's like 3 turns, to go up/down MAYBE 1/4"

X2 very slow process. If youve ever watched them when they work on their own, you will see them turning very fast and a whole bunch of times.

Could be that the little thingies inside the headlight motor are disintegrated to dust. If the thingies are gone, then you can twist until the cows come home - try pulling them up. If everything inside the headlight motors are original, chances are you will be rebuilding the gear drive. Part that goes bad is dirt cheap - just takes your sweat equity to fix.
