Re: help! dont know what happened!
ok take ur air filter off and then check coil wire did
u put it back on? its possible u put the cap on wrong and the rotor hit the cap and broke the rotor has happened to me before. check the wires coming out of the distibuter if u have old style two plugs check if wires were pulled from plug housing write back if u dont figure it out? stevo
----------
if one of those wires are off one of them gives ur dist power when u turn key on

Re: help! dont know what happened!
it has the hei ignition, so the coil is over the distributor cap. and i inspected the cap, nothing is broken, and everything looks perfect in there. the plugs that plug into the cap/coil are in good condition. plugged in, everything looks like it should be working properly, i cant figure out what happened. could the spark plugs be shot? i would think the engine would make some attempt at starting though. any clues? i need to get this thing back on the road. will be checking back periodically and reporting my findings. thanks.

Re: help! dont know what happened!
okay well did u check the rotor button? it could be broke ? that or the main terminal that touches the coil tab in side the distributer in the center wich sends fire to each plug/the fire runs through the rotor button.it doesnt matter if its out of order it would still have fire.take an extra plug u have laying around take one of ur plug wires off and put the extra plug in lay it on the block and turn it over (best if done with 2 people or in dark) thats how u see if u have fire.yea if u dont have fire take the rotor button off and see if it is good.
----------
and if that dont work try ur old coil

did u gap ur plugs?and when u turn ur key on is the fuel pump comin on?
