Retrofit a Speach module, from some other GM model
I am playing with the idea of retrofitting some kind of speach module that "talks" like if your door is AJAR and whatnot. Now, given I'm in europe, there's not a wholelot of US cars to pick parts from here, and so far the only cars I've sat in who had this was some Nissans, but they all talked a very flawed "asian'ish" english that really sounded rediculus.
So, guess first question is if any of you know of any perticular GM model who has a nice sounding speachmodule like this I perhaps could order from say a JY, or GMpartsdirect.
Second would be how hard this would be. Anyone tried this and know if one can mount such a module without needing the whole ecm for the car you take it from?
I was basically thinking of have door reminders, lights, and perhaps low gas, oil engine temp etc if that would be at allpossible.
Any thoughts about tthis?
