wiring up 1982 tail-lights in my car
first off yes I know my car is a 1982 ok ..... But I put 1990 wiring throoughout the car so now it has 1990 firebird tail-lights ((( the kind with the amber turn signals ))) ......
OK so I found a set of 1984 tail-lights and a complete harness to go with them. Sooooooo how do I get the 1990 harness to work with the 1984 harness so I can have original style lights back in my car ?????
Or is is a hassle ????? If so they will be sold and I will just leave the 1990 lights in the car ..... I remember a thread on putting GTA tail lights in a formula but not sure if the wiring is the same as a 1984.

I think you can just unplug the 90 tail light harness and plug in the 84 harness. But I'm not 100% positive.

What about using a Trans Am tail light harness it has the 3 light sockets like the 84 lights.

Re: wiring up 1982 tail-lights in my car
well I have a 84 harness but my car has a 1990 harness ok. heres the problem 84 has brown/green/yellow/black .... the 1990 pigtail has brown/green/yellow/blue/black
1990 firebird had seperate turn signals from the main tail-lights
so we have this
1984
brown- running park lights
green- turn signal
yellow- turn signal
black- ground
1990
blue- brake lights
yellow- turn signal
green- turn signal
brown- running lights
black- ground
I've tried the blue "90" wire to the trun signals like another member suggested and that didn't work right. Even tried a towing converter box which is supposed to have same wires as my 90 harness yet when hooked up make a 4 wire combination tail-light setup work and that failed.

Re: wiring up 1982 tail-lights in my car
Well, I gave up and took the 90 harness and and made it work with my 84 tail-lights by using the outside bulb on each tail-light and turning it into a turnsignal/running light. so they kinda work like the 92 trans am lights where the inside two lights are for brake/running lights and the outter is a turn signal.
When I have some more time I am going to look into that sequentail brake light thread and do them like that.
