91-92 third brake light woes.
Is anyone else experiencing problems with their 3rd brake lights from these years? the one mounted high on the hatch. My original one stopped working and after taking it apart it was, the silver plastic reflective part and part that holds the bulb in place, were shattered into about 50 pieces. I got a replacement from the junkyard which worked for a short bit and now the plastic bulb holder part is broken off. The bulb does work if positioned correctly, but always loses contact on the 1st bump. Am I just unlucky? or is there some trick to fixing this? I'm going to get another off Ebay and hope that works longer than the last one.

I had problems with my '92. I switched out the bulbs with new sylvania bulbs and saw that I had less of a problem. I figured out it was the gap between the resistors and the plastic on the bulb itself. What I did finally to clog up the gap completely was replace the bulb with a red LED third brake light. It was a tight squeeze but it doesn't burn, melt, or arc in any way.

I don't suppose you have a part number for that LED light or can point me to a link or something? I'm getting tired of the poor design of that light and don't want to toss more money at a replacement only to have it fall apart again.
