Yep. Since we are "down to the wire", I'm thinking Paypals would be best now, I'd hate to get a few Paypal payments, sell out, then have a M.O. show up, and not have any to sell, and just hafta the M.O. back, instead of a STS unit.

Besides the M.O. "in the nail" I know of, I know of another person planning on paying on the 4th (or was it the 6th?) via Paypal.

Paypal to SteveCranford@Austin.rr.com $50 shipped

I'll PM you that the Paypal was received, and keep you updated on shipping progress.

5 left unpaid for. I got a PM of a M.O. in the mail, but that'll be the last M.O. I don't wanna get M.O. in the mail, and get Paypal payments come in first, then not have a unit to ship.

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2

Out of the first batch of STS, I got ZERO videos, so it would be cool to see them out on other cars.

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2

yeah, I also plan to convert the third brake light into LEDs and I got a red taillight panel from some car at the boneyard so I can make the 3rd brake lens bigger. Since my 87 has black "trim" around the lens itself that is too small to do any "mods" to. I'm going to put letters like "Trans Am" or "Pontiac". Thats probably when I'll install the STS... and honestly, I'll probably do it the next morning that I get it in the mail...

Out of all the ones that have out, you are the FIRST "customer" to post a video of your car!

Cool!

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2

The "worst" part about these, are knowing you have kick *** tail lights, but when your driving around, you can't see them, feel them, hear them....NOTHING.

From the driver's seat, there's nothing special going on.

Tampa Hurricane, thfirewithin, squirted1, theimpaler68, loneroad, 357transam, N7GTJ, HaIrLeSsHoBo, & legaldisaster....YOUR STS UNITS SHIPPED OUT AT 11:30!

That only leaves 3 more to build & ship, and 2 unclaimed.

I'm kinda surprised the Mustang guys have wanted any, but I don't have an Mustang buddies to pass the word on to that crowd either.

It's looking like the last 2 may be gone already...A Round 3 could be possible, but it would require another 10 pre-paid orders.

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2

mine showed up the other day, and the USPS did a wonderful job of destroying the package . It showed partially shredded, with the terminal block stocking through the top of the package, all sealed up nice in their "were sorry", or "there's anthrax in this" plastic baggie. The unit looks fine though, wont have it installed for a little while though

You have the amber turn strip underneath? You could do the amber to red conversion, like the Camaro guys do on their tail lights.

Do you want to keep the strips for your turns? For the top 4 bulbs, you can have 1 & 2 connected to A, 2 &3 connected to B, or 3 & 4 connected to C. Or just do 3 bulbs, not 4. Your choice!

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2

Thanks Steve, just got mine today. But it sure got jostled around, hope it works. One corner of the plastic took a good hit, has a small crack and part of the rounded end of the box that holds the unit itself is gone. I can't see inside so it's still all together.

Long as it works doesn't really matter what it looks like hehe! Thanks again, can't wait to give it a try.

Shoot me a pic. That's the first one, I've heard of, that had physically wrong with it, on arrival.

I've found them at Pep Boys & O'Riellys. Did you give them the Dorman part #? 85867? As listed on on the instructions, Autozone doesn't usually stock them.

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2

I'll be honest and say I hit up a local boneyard for a good condition set of dual filament sockets. I was running low on cash, I got them both for $1.50. I think they were from a doner Firebird...

When I did mine, a little over a year ago, I couldn't the sockets in stores either. I had to buy a whole tail harness to hack up.

The stock harness has 4 of the sockets I needed, and I only needed 2. I gave the other 2 to a local guy to do the STS, but he never has even gotten a STS unit, so that was a waste giving them to him.

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2

yeah, I was a bit confused at the junkyard because I'd pull some out and it would have 5 wires (2brown, 2yellow, 1black) but then I figured out how to use them once I checked my harness. My harness didn't have any splices, rather, for example on left harness, the leftmost socket had the yellow feed wire, and then a separate yellow feed wire went to the next socket...so I did as the instructions indicated and connected the yellow feed along with the inner most socket and so forth...

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2

Checked at O'Reilly's this morning. They have 2 left, and I reserved them to pickup today! It's not made by Dorman though, all they have for Dorman are screws. But i asked thier manager if it would work and they said it would, so i guess it will work and if it doesnt, ill take it back. But i did find the part, luckily. So i will be installing them today, and posting videos as well.

Let me know if this would be a problem, but im sure it wont...

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2

Lemme know what Brad socket & part # you found that works, and I'll add that to the instructions for future buyers. I have no problem editing the instructions, as people find ways to clarify anything, add parts sources/#s, etc.

Will do. The brand name is Conduct-Tite. You can get them at O'Reilly's for 9.99 i believe, which is a little expensive compared to the other companies you listed. It is the same Item # as the Dorman one. I called to confirm that it is a dual-filament socket. Stephen, I'll keep you posted on whether it works or not.

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2

cool, I can't wait to see your vid...it doesn't take long to install it took me 2hrs total, from the time I opened the package, to the time I closed the car door and went inside... Its an awesome feeling once you see your tailights firing sequentially...

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2

Thfirewithin, if you have separate brake lights and turn signals, you have three options:
A) you can sequence the orange bulbs on each side - but I'm not sure how many there are, you might need to add some
B) you can integrate the brake lights and tail lights and use only the red bulbs (and probably just black out the unused amber portion)
C) you can install GTA tail lights

For B) and C), you'd need to replace the turn signal switch (multifunction switch) in the steering column with one from a GTA, in order to achieve the integrated brake/turn signal.

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2

OK. So I am major confused, and prolly the only one posting about this but... I have pics to illustrate my problem.
http://dc37.4shared.com/img/34674956...ht.jpg?sizeM=3

I have 4 wires on the far left, two brown, one blue, one black, the 2nd one from the inside has 3 wires, one brown, one blue, and one black, the two from the 2nd one from the far right (confusing i know), have 2 wires, one brown, one black. The amber section underneath the lights (the one under the taillights in the pic split into), has one yellow wire, and one black wire. The reverse lights have 3 wires, 2 green, and one black...

Can you please explain what i need to do as i am confused. I have instructions, the just dont fit though.

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2

Your car uses red lightbulbs for brake lights (both sides light up at the same time) and an amber lightbulb on each side for turn signals.

On the GTAs, they combined the turn signals into the red brake lights so if you hit the brake, both tail lights light up and if you turn on a turn signal in addition to the brake, one tail light will be flashing the read "brake" light. So the turn signals aren't separate, they are integrated into the brake lights.

What you'll need to do is convert your tail light wiring (and with some modifications to your steering column wiring) to work as in a GTA, meaning that you will completely eliminate the separate amber turn signals and they will integrate into the brake lights. THEN the instructions will make sense, believe me.

I'm working on a solution for you, please give me some time, I will get back to you. In the meantime, if anybody has already converted the Formula tail lights to GTA lights, feel free to post any advice!

I've backed up to stores at night (I now know which ones are best, and the parking lot is dark) so I can back p to them, and make sure all 6 bulbs are still working.
