I did some searching and found that in order to wire my defrost switch, I need to wire it to the ECC and Gauge fuses on my fuse box. My question is, how can I actually wire it to the box? The places behind those fuses are already filled and I am not sure how I can add another wire to it.

Well, I ran into a problem. When I tested the hook up locations for power, the one for the pink/black wire had switched power (which I believe is correct), but the place for the orange/black wire hand no power at any time (even with engine on). I am guessing that this is not normal and something is wrong. Any idea what could be causing this?

 

Besides the 2 wires I circled in my last message there are only 2 other wires to connect. One is the heavy gauge purple wire that leads all the way down the car to the rear hatch shock. The Other is a heavy gauge Orange and black wire that leads directly to the junction box. ( you can see both of these wires to the left in my picture. )

If that Orange / Black wire is not getting power at any time when connected to the junction box than there is a problem with the power supply from the fusebox to the junction box.

Do you place a circuit breaker into the fuse box yet ???

 

I put in all the circuit brakers that give power to the junction box and it does have power. I think my problem is that I though the lower wire in the picture you posted was that orange/black wire. What wire should be there if its not the orange/black one?

Ok, I finally had a chance to hook everything up the correct way. After wiring it all up, I hit the switch and nothing. Do I need to have the cable hooked up to the hatch strut and grounded off of the other hatch strut to get any kind of reaction from the button? When I hit the switch, no lights turn on, no sounds, and no power. Any suggestions?

cable needs to be hooked to the hatch strut. my defroster, which came stock, won't work either if it comes unplugged.
