Wiper motor problems
Ok so I stripped the gears in my old motor (apparently it didn't like trying to push the snow off the windshield) and went out and got a new one. I also noticed that the front black cover was broken so I got one of those too (it came with the motor). I installed it and at first delay wasn't working, only had off/low/high. I discovered that the cover that AC Delco ships with their motor is for non delay, so I got a delay one and put that on.
Now this is where it gets interesting. When I go to turn the wipers on delay the go to the slow setting and the washer pumps. Slow and high are the right speed, but the pump still pumps. Also, it won't turn off unless I turn the wiper switch to off and turn the ignition off and back on again, the wipers then go back to the park position. If I take off the black cover piece and plug in the motor using only the 3 remaining plugs it works fine (with the exception of delay of course). I thought maybe the cover was defective from the factory, so I installed my old one and it did exactly the same thing.
My buddy said something about a ground to the black cover thing, I tested it with a test light and it is grounded (I also used a jumper cable to ground it just to be sure), and it did nothing.
Anybody have any idea what it could be? Is there suppose to be another ground to the motor besides the one that I had to put in the bottom plug because GM updated there design (I'm 100% sure I wired it from the 2 to 3 wire motor correctly)? I'm about to go crazy.

Re: Wiper motor problems
Well after waiting for it to get light so I could actually see what I was doing I found what was happening. Under the cover right by where you plug in the 4 wire connector there is some metal connectors that stick up. The original one that I pulled only had 2, the one they gave me had 3. I make the new one look like the old one (the connector came out easily with some needle nose pliers) and put everything back together and now it works fine. Just thought I would put down the solution in case someone else has the same problem. The motor they gave me was AC Delco part # 88961294 by the way.
