Junking the crossfire system
Junking the crossfire system
I'm going to bin the crossfire system in my '83 as I have a Goodwrench 5.7 in there and I think that it's being choked to death. I have a holley double pumper at 650 CFM, Holley intake. I'm almost certain that I will need an ignition kit, fuel pump and modified tank (as the fuel pump sits in there and there is a return feed. I am also going to junk the two catalysts as we are not obliged to have them here.Basically I want to know what the electrical implications are and how I can get round them. Any ideas would be welcome.

Re: Junking the crossfire system
What do you mean by electrical implications? If you don't care about a check engine light being on, you could probably just have the carb'd set-up without any real issues driveability wise. You could ditch the fuel pump relay and change the fuel lines to straight feed lines with the carb. as you would have the mechanical on the motor? Or would you use an electric fuel pump still? Outside the tank or in line somewhere? I know there are plenty of people who have ditched their 305 TPI set-ups and run a carb'd 350, so hopefully some of them will chime in with what they did. .
