1983 Camaro w/no spark at ignition
We recently installed a running 305 from a 1983 Impala. When attempting to start the newly installed engine, there was no spark at any sparkplug. The same ignition setup had run splendidly before being transferred to the Camaro.
Verified 12 volts at BAT terminal on cap, also wired 12 volts directly from battery post; no change. When cranking, the distributor rotates correctly but there is no spark being generated until the switch is turned off. At that point the coil will fire once, verified at center contact inside distributor cap.
We were advise to change the ignition control module which we did today, but there has been no change. We are stumped. Help!

Having seen no replies here on the forum, continued to deduce possible causes. Swapped out the complete distributor and saw no change in the problem so figured something outside the distributor was causing it. What else? Maybe the security system. So I disconnected the security system and turned the key and the car started normally. Done deal.
