Viper Alarm Install Help!!!!
Viper Alarm Install Help!!!!
Hi...I am installing a Viper 791XV alarm. I am installing this in an old van that does not have power windows, so I am only hooking up the main harness.
I have hooked everything up and the alarm is working fine, EXCEPT the flashing light NEVER stops flashing. When it is disarmed the light still flashes. I hooked up the red wire H1/2 to a positive feed.
Here is the install manual: http://www.directeddealers.com/manua...564V_07-05.pdf
Check page 14
Have I not programmed the alarm? How do I fix this?
Thanks for your help

Re: Viper Alarm Install Help!!!!
Have you tied any open sense wires to ground, or positive?
Some alarm systems don't like when certain wires are left 'open'.
You say the alarm works correctly, but the red LED continues to
flash. Is the LED supposed to flash when disarmed? Does the LED
turn off when the engine is running?

Okay, I double checked and the violet wire is connected to the door(+).
The LED never truns off when I am driving, armed or disarmed
Maybe I could hook the negative door trigger input somewhere.
P.S. I am not using the ignition kill relay.

Re: Viper Alarm Install Help!!!!
Got it! Not sure what fixed the problem, but here is what I did.
I tried to program the system by opening the door, turning on the key (KOEOff), then pressing the valet switch. Then I hit the arm button button on the remote. Nothing happened, so I disconnected the main harness from the alarm. When I plugged it back in the alarm did not go off. I hit arm button and the alarm worked. THen I hit unarm and the light went out
So I think I got it.
Thanks for answering my e-mail.

Re: Viper Alarm Install Help!!!!
Cool news!
It seems like you needed to initialize, or reset the unit from those steps you
took.
