Fuel pump problems
Last year I put in a TRE 255lph fuel pump. Reason being I was told a regular electric fuel pump wouldn't be able to provide the volume needed for the horsepower. I'm using the correct type of bypass regulator. I had no problems with it and I put about 3k miles on it. Yes I know I should've just went with a mechanical pump but anyway.
Now I let the car sit for about a month then started it, then a month and a half and now I have no response from the pump. I just went under there, unplugged the harness and tried to power up the pump directly with my power probe and still nothing.
I'm wondering if it's really bad for the pump, because most of the fuel just goes to the return. I don't see why that would cause it to fail, but I really don't know. I didn't get the high pressure version, but still. I never drove below 1/4 tank. thanks
I also spoke to a good tech, and he told me he was on his third pump in his wifes v6 camaro, and he blamed it on the fuel nowadays.

Re: Fuel pump problems
I have a 355, with world sportsman II heads, a comp .502/.510 cam, dart kool can intake, and a holley 700 dp to top it off. All with a stock bottom end. I don't remember the duration on the cam at the moment. I will dyno it this summer to see what it's making. It was my first build, and it seemed to make good power when I drove it. I was impressed at times.
The company told me the reason for the failure was my fault. On their pump there is a little metal nipple that just snaps on the top of the discharge port. I test fitted the hose, and when I pulled it off this came off with it, so I decided to install it without it. Supposably that little metal cap held in a one way check valve, and I strained the pump by running it without it. I didn't want the cap coming off and going into the fuel hose. I thought it was just a simulated hose barb. Now i'm about to go outside and drop the tank, ohh joy.
