key ignition, how to replace?

I can start the car and shut it off but when you shut it off it will not go in the lock position, hoew much issue is it to replace, Im pretty mechanically inclined or is this something better left to a shop that can do it even tho- there is cost involved?

most locksmiths can do it for about 75.00 or less. they did mine for 40.00 for my 86 iroc. of course if it has a chip in the key then it might be higher. im in florida so prices may vary from place to place

Its really easy, Ive done 2 gm columns and am confident I could do a third in 25 min. you just need a puller for the wheel and the tool that compresses the spring inside the column to allow you to remove the retaining ring.
