Power Locks

Need some advice on my power locks. I can push the lock buttons numerous times and they eventually lock or unlock. The buttons are worn, but is this just old buttons, bad actuators, or old wiring? Am I on the right track?

Common problem: Years of accumulated gunk. Clean and relube with white grease and all should be in order.
