Re: mechanical or electronic

86-92 Firebirds got the electronic speedo. 85 was an odd year, because it has the updated dash/interior, but still a mechanical speedo. You can swap to an electronic speedo, but it's a fair amount of work, and you'd need a speed sensor for the trans, as well as a VSS buffer box. Your formula already has an electronic speedo, and the GTA one should work just fine, plug and play. The only thing I'm not 100% sure on is the oil pressure sender, I seem to recall there being a couple different versions of it, for different gauges. If both oil pressure gauges are the same (like 0-30-60), then you should be good to go.

Re: mechanical or electronic

i just got the speedo and tach in yesterday and i have one more question about it before i install it. does the speedo and/or tach need to be calibrated to show the right speed and rpm? what i mean is, where the needle is located, say at 30 mph, on the 120mph speedo would be slightly different on the 140mph speedo. does this need to be corrected in any way or is it something done in the circuitry of the speedo itself? i was wondering the same thing for the tach.
