My 92 Z28 WONT START. VATS?
I've read everything i found and kind of got an idea of what it could be but just wanted to make sure before i start buying and replacing parts...seems like another VATS prob. so i came home parked the car, finished installing the CD player with side speakers (had ign on to check the radio) then when finished tried to start it and nothing
i checked the batt and starter both ok...on the cluster the ebrake light up and "security" comes on for 3 sec and goes away when the ignition is on. oh and its a 92 Z28 with T5 conv. thnx

If the Security light disappears, you should be ok as far as VATS goes.
Are you sure you didn't bump the old tranny shifter switch? Not sure how you connected the neutral safety starter wires during the T5 conversion but maybe one wire got pulled out when you were installing the radio?

well i got the car this way and guy had it for few years just the way it is and no problem... he did the swap so im not sure how he converted it, i was installing the rear side speakers and there was no wires to pull that would cause this..i guess im going to start taking apart the steering column and replace the ign switch and sylinder since everything else seem to work fine...thnx

Re: My 92 Z28 WONT START. VATS?
thank you Lou !!! you were right it wasnt VATS even though after few adjustments security light did stay on. the previous owner rigged the neutral safety switch and had it connected through :red: amp power cable, which was loose and hit something sometime when i was working with speakers on the back, which caused the fuse blow out so had no power to the clutch pedal since it was geting power from it, so i put new fuse in and nothing!
then i started chasing the wires from there with a test light, end up at the relay looks like custom neutral switch relay that wasnt getting power/stuck, took it out hit it against the floor few times got it working, tested while it was opened and it sure worked but was getting stuck from time to time so i end up getting a new one anyway in disc auto parts for $4 and my problem solved, just got to put all the wiring back together but this time the right way,.
