Re: door electronics question
not a clue to the alarm as it isn't original i don't know if it's sensor oriented or door activated, but have you checked that the door switch is functioning properly, the next step if it's moving in and out as it should, i would ask if you can jump those door jamb switch wires together do your dome lights work then. I think you need to figure out your dome light issue before alarm system as it may be tied together.
----------
also i ask...if i was to spend money on a security system...i would get a keyless entry one...but reguardless, when you press the button to unlock your car/deactivate the alarm system...does it activate the interior lights at all? Only reason i ask is that your alarm system may be on it's way out, or just not wired correctly (to recognize opening of driver or passenger door).

Re: door electronics question
Its not aftermarket its the VATS that came with the 92 the little light switch thing that moves in and out still moves but even if you pull it out the light doesn't come on. i have checked the fuses and such they are all okay this has really got me stumped.

Hey man....I'm in the same spot you are...except I don't have an Alarm system. lol Take apart your passenger side kickpanel there will be a few things that are covered up with a Tar type substance. Take the one closest to your switch off. Now is your switch still wired? The Tar on my car somehow ate through the wire and now mine are grounding themselves on teh chassis of my car! What's more is there is a popping noise in the right side of my dash. I found out that it was my relay for my Antenna. So, I bought a new one at autozone.....today I put it in and......the new relay started popping. That's when I took apart my kickers and found that I had a wire gone missing haha.... btw the "Antenna" relay powers much much more....and I'm 90% sure that the wire is popping this thing....
To find your "Antenna Relay"
Right under your map pocket on your passenger side you have a little arm that extends from center console to the door. On my car it has a little badge that says: "Performance Suspension". Here's a pic:

To find the hole where your Courtesy switch wires should be located
ONce you get your kicker panel out this is what you should be seeing:

Now all that's left is finding your wire.....which is extrememly hard.. I've been working on this since I got out of ACT's around noon :\ Tough day dude.....
Good luck man....God knows you'll need it.
