91 firebird temp gauge

after changing my engine out from a 305tbi to a 350carb my temp gauge no longer works... i lost track of the temp sender wire thats supposed to go to the sensor in the drivers side head. I couldnt find any wires at all on that side of the block i remember it was a 1 wire connector and i found one that looked like it had been broken it was a green wire with a white stripe is that it?

I was also wondering if the temp gauge runs on the computer or does it just go from the sensor to the dash?

Re: 91 firebird temp gauge

Hi,

According to the service manual the 5.0 TBI has a yellow wire from the coolant temp sensor to the ECM, so it could branch off from that to the temp guage or be from an output on the ECM.

Hope that helps :-)
