window motor - need reply ASAP pleeeeeeeease!
I just swapped out my window motor, but I am having a LOT of trouble getting the regulator scissors back in, I can only get 2 of the three wheels to go in.
Whichever way I do it the third won't reach the spot that lets it back into the rail.
what is the best window position to do it, up/down or half way?
do I have to do them in a particular order? (I am doin the drivers side)
Thanks - if anyone is on please reply ASAP, my window is currently propped up with a stick!! ;(

Re: window motor - need reply ASAP pleeeeeeeease!
well I got the regulator back on the tracks (I was trying to use the wrong track! LOL, in my defense it all fell out when I removed the rivets so I never saw how it was before..and the Chilton and Haynes lack of pictures and descriptions for this job were absolutely useless!!!)
still not done, though, had to concede to the darkness and the fact that nowhere is open that sells rivets ;(
Note:
Anyone planning on doing their window motor or regulator, don't bother with nuts and bolts, just buy rivets, u have to have hands the size of a 2 yr old to get behind to put the bolts through.
Do not try and do it on your own (you CAN, but it's no fun) having someone who can hold the glass for you helps a LOT!!
Initially I just propped it up as suggested but that doesn't help when the prop is in the way.
Also in my last minute dash to get this done before dark I bought rivets from lowes (closer than parts store and still open) DO NOT do that. They had NO rivets that are big enough/long enough.
Now I just have to hope the props and duct tape holding my window up can withstand my drive to/from work before I can get this f-ing thing finished tomorrow.
I concur with 90% of others on this subject, it sucks, big time doing power window work on thirdgens!!
PS - They aren't kidding about the gear that the motor moves, it is spring loaded with reasonable force, I thought I had secured it but not quite enough and my hands are now shredded (the teeth are VERY sharp on it)

Another tip I would have liked to know BEFORE all this, rivets that are 1/4 diameter are HARD to find....of course this will vary by your location but NONE of these places sell rivets big enough!
Autozone
(if u call, ask for metal ones, they said they had 1/4 but they are plastic!)
Advance Auto
Ace Hardware
Lowes
Home Depot
Sears
Even Chevy themselves do not sell them.
Ain't that a b*tch....finally found them at my local bolt and screw store.

Re: window motor - need reply ASAP pleeeeeeeease!
ok finally all finished so here is some more info I would have loved to have before I started.
If you choose to use rivets keep in mind that 1/4 inch sized ones (same as factory diameter) are too big to put in with a small rivet tool.
Choices are:
A: Buy a big tool for around $80-90
B: Rent the tool, prob about $20
C: Do what I just did and go ask a body shop really nicely to pop them for u
As they were almost closed and I guess they liked me they popped mine in with their air-tool for free (of course I had everything in position and readily accessible so it only took 60 seconds)
...and as luck would have it the stupid plastic ones I put in to help keep the window up during my search were very helpful for keeping everything lined up, just switch out one at a time and voila!
Now I know all this, if the other side goes it'll prob take me about 1-1.5 hrs.
So I am sure this will help some other poor sod out there that has to do this job!
