electric windows not working
is there a relay somewhere on 3rd gens for the electric windows?
i have power going into and out of my switch, but not at my window motor.

Don't quote me but I don't think 3rd gens use separate relays on the window motors. The switches go straight into the window module, which may have a relay in it... not sure!? Presuming the fuse hasn't blown ;-) it might be just easier to swap the module/motor!

fuses are good.
the plug going into the motor coming out of the car is dead.
i had to put different doors on the car, i was thinking i had a bad window motor but i tested the plug going to the motor, nothing!

Re: electric windows not working
It could be just a bad connection or broken wire. I've attached the wiring diagram for a Firebird but I'm not sure if it's the same as a Camaro :-)

The fuse is easy to check but if it has blown, then it was for a reason! As there is no motor control module you could isolate the motor and test straight from the battery. After that it's a case of measuring voltage at various wire points, it's not a complicated circuit.

Re: electric windows not working
thanks for the diagram.
if my fuse was blown, would i have power at my switch?
i'll change it regardless because it's the easiest thing to do.
i just got my car running. the car hasnt been driven 1500 miles since 02, they are probably the original fuses from 86. i'm praying they were just old.
either way, i have this huge bundle of wires tucked under neath my fender, because i'm afraid to cut any of them. the problem could be in those wires.
by the way, i removed a little relay beside my brake booster before i painted the engine bay, could this be the problem?

Re: electric windows not working
From just looking at the diagram myself ;-) if the fuse had blown there would be no power to the switches. The circuit is really simple to follow... from fuse 12v goes to each power window switch and depending which way you push it effectively reverses the polarity of the motor. You're gonna have to trace the wires in the door itself as there is only one coming into the door, that's the 12v one.
It won't harm to change the fuses anyway as they do oxidise etc.
There is likely to be a load of wires under the dash etc but for the windows you don't need to worry about them, just deal with what's in the door itself. Try the motor separately as this then rules that out and leaves you with a wiring issue.
The relay near the brake booster isn't window related... could be fuel pump, flasher etc.
Oh think the windows will only work if the ignition is on!
Hope that helps.
