Hatch motor HELP!!!!

Ok heres the problem. When I push the rear hatch button the hatch goes all the way up then back down & locks. So if I wanna open it I gotta hit the switch then run behind & pull it up when it releases before it goes back down.
I have a new motor, new/used hatch struts & switch, new fuse. The old motor was working fine until one day it went down & stayed on.
The motor is adjusted all the way up, Im just out of ideas what could be the problem.I dont think its any of the relays, when I use the key I can pull the hatch open & it comes up & stays up till I close it.

Re: Hatch motor HELP!!!!

I think this is a common problem. Mine did that for the longest time until I replaced my motor when the shaft finally broke.

I would adjust the motor downward, and if you can't get it that way try the alignment of the hatch catch to the latch in the motor. If it isn't aligned it could be caudsing that issue.

Re: Hatch motor HELP!!!!

That would be because the trunk is lifting, but then when the pulldown reaches the top of its cycle, it presses on the trunk so much that it snaps back which makes it pull it back down. You could also see about replacing your shocks for your trunk, if they lift up more on the trunk it could help... if you wanted to really jerry rig it, you could put some sort of spring under your trunk to make it go up higher.

I have new struts on, the old ones I had on their couldn't hold up the hatch. Yeah I was thinking about that spring idea, only thing is were to put it & how strong of a spring.
