Clutch switch = no start?!?
Alright guys, heres the deal. Just got home from D&D where my car wouldnt start.
My buddie tim tried jumping me just for *****, to make sure it wasnt that. But what happened, was when I turned the key, no click, and all the guages go dead. Just like trying to start it without the clutch in.
I got under the dash, and tried to find the clutch switch. Lemme tell you, the underside of the dashes in these cars are Cramped! I couldnt even see the damn switch for like 10 minutes untill I tore out a piece of foam. Then, I found what I think it might be. Small, black, rectangular box. Couldnt see if there was a rod going to the clutch pedal or not. I felt around with 1 finger, and I thought I found a wire going into it. I tried to disconnect the wire, but couldnt get any more fingers up there to feel around.
We went to pop start the car, and just for ***** again, I turn the key and it started right up! Got gas, got home, still seems to start normal. Maybe I wiggled something free??
----------
So,
in case this starting is only temporary and the switch is on the way out, what can I do to get the car started?? I was figuring, that if I unplugged the switch, the car would see that as the clutch was IN all the time. If it didnt, then I would be screwed. I have had cars at firestone (usually little rice hondas and such) that had somehow disabled the thing. So, how can I disable it in my car if it comes to that.
Is there any special technique to get access up in there? I cant see any thing for ****, even with my light. So, thanks for any help. I hope it starts for work tomorrow.
