battery keeps 'dying'

ok i have a 85 bird that i am restoring.. i was able to get it started after it sitting for 3 years.. for some reason the battery died.. so i recharged it.. when i open the door, i get the 'open door buzz' and all my accessories work.. but when i turn the key over the engine clicks, then the car acts as if there is no battery, or the battery is dead, ie: no dash light, no acc. power. i know the battery is still good because i can take the battery out of the bird right after it 'dies' and put it into another car and it starts up without a problem. i bought a brand new battery and it did the same thing.. any tips and info would be great.. thanks
