head light motors

alright so on my 91 bird the headlight motors are starting to go bad. well for the plug for the motors there is 2 wires. now on these other motors i got for free that are like new, they have 3 wires on them. is there any way i can get them to work?

those sound like the early design and similar to the ones on my 86 Fiero and they will not work if I am correct because they are internally controlled by a torque switch instead of a control box.

3 wire motor won't work for 2 wire app. Are the motors bad or just the gear package? If the motors run but the lights don't go up then the gears are shot...and they are repairable.

where can u can the gears. the motors run just the lights have a hard time coming up and now they like slip. pretty sure the gears are toast. how much are the gears?

you can buy a headlight bushing rebuild kit for like 25 dollars. A member on here sells them.

there are some people on the Fiero site that make gears and rebuild kits for them as well.

The headlight gears can be repaired with the same repair kits used for Ford window motors. Any knowlegable parts guy should be able to get you what you need... I will try to get a part # for you guys that need it. It is what I used to repair the headlights on the 87 T/A I used to have, and the kits used to only be $4

I just repaired my motor tonight with the gluestick trick. Not great, but it will get the job done untill I have the money for the reman ones from autozone.
