Alernator squeling. HELP..

Car: '89 GTA/'86 TA/98 TA
Engine: 350/350/LS1
Transmission: R4/T5/4L60E
Axle/Gears: 3.23/2.77/3.73
Alernator squeling. HELP..

My alternator squels everytime on start up in the morning and afternoon after school. Then when the RPMs are passed the 4500 hazard zone it squels there. It is really embarassing, So what can I do??? New 1 maybe but how much are they

Please help

Check the belt, belt tension, and alternator itself--I think Autozone, for example, will test free. Remans aren't terribly expensive.

Loosen the bolt(s) at the alternator and apply pressure. Too tight is as bad as too loose.
