starter wiring problem

I tried to start my car yesterday but when I got in it there was no power at all to anything except for my radiator fan which is wired directly to the bat by a switch. So I got out and jiggled the wired that go to the started and after some jiggling the interior lights came on. But when I turned the key to start it the power died again (as soon as the key hits the "start" position). So I jiggle again and the power comes back again, and the power dies again when I try to start it. This goes on for a while before someone held the wires down after the power came back which allowed the car to actually start. What the heck is going on here? Obviously something is wrong with those starter wires, but what could it be? The main battery cable that goes to the starter is brand new BTW. Any help would be great.

the fusible links there at the starter are messed up.

check your battery connections too. Take 'em off and inspect/clean and reinstall tight. Some times its the simple things....

I stand by my fusible links theory., but agree that most times no power is something simple like battery terminals.

Re: starter wiring problem

well ur theory is plausible im just saying the corosion or looseness is more likely
