Alternator is over charging

Alternator is over charging

the alternateo reads over 13 amps at idle but when I drive the car it kpegs into the red. the dash lights and head lights get brite. could the alt be bad????

Those are volts, not amps. Your alternator might need a new voltage regulator.

anything over 15volts you should be worried though it is easy to get about 17volts out of a CS130 with some wiring but thats for upgraded components or massive stereo.
