Where do theses wires go?
Where do theses wires go?
The car in question is an 89 camaro 2.8 V6.
I dont have pics right now but if i need to I will post some later. There are a four wiring problems I am having from a previous owner hacking into the car.
The first problem areas are in a wire loom above the starter, there are three red wires they got burned up or cut or something. The ones that come from the rear or the car are there but there arent any coming from the engine side of the wire loom to connect them to. I ran theses wires to the battery to see what they powered and one big red wire powers the interior of the car (lights, chimes, windows,) other big red one powers the exterior lights from what i can tell. The little one I'm not sure of.
The second problem area is the alternator, where do the wires from the plug in connector run too? They have also been cut, and is there suppose to be a wire running from the back of alternator to the battery?
The third problem is there are two fuses in the area by the battery, one is connected to a relay and the other isnt. They both have red power wires that are disconnected so any ideas if they are suppose to connect to the battery or alternator?
The fourth problem is in the wire loom next that runs on the left side of the engine bay down by the battery has a red wire that is hanging out of it when the car is running this wire produes no power so i'm guess it is suppose to connect to a power source?
Any help/ suggestions would be greatly appreicated. I have connected all of the wires in question to the battery to get the car started but after awhile the battery gets drained and the car will turn off.

Re: Where do theses wires go?
I have identified the wires that run above the starter as the (1) interior power, (2) headlitght/exterior lights, and (3) fuel pump. The wire from the loom on the left side of the engine bay runs to the pcm, i believe. Of the two fuse wires by the battery the one that goes to a relay is for the fan. So I still need help with the alternator and the other fuse wire by the battery. Does the interior, exterior, and fuel pump run right off of the battery or where do these wire draw their power from?

Most cars use a junction block next to the battery sandwiched between the radiator on the side of the core support and of the starter relay were the battery connects at. I have the power distribution diagrams if you want them. pm me ur email address
