choke light stays on
I started my camaro this morning after getting a new flowmaster exhaust system for it the previous day and I noticed that the choke light stayed on. I left the engine running for a bit until I saw smoke coming out of the back left tire.
Not sure where the smoke was coming from, but I do know that the welding and everything looks fine on the exhaust. Any ideas as to why the choke light is on? It's the first time it has stayed on and when looking at the car's manual all it states that if the choke light remains on I could run the risk of having high exhaust temp and severe damage to the engine itself.
5.0 V8 carburated TBI is what I have.
Please help!

Re: choke light stays on
I drove the car today for a bit and it would stay at a constant speed (25mph) without me even pressing on the gas. And when I turned the engine off with the key out of the ignition it sounded as if the motor was still trying to gasp for fuel.
Anyone ever run into this problem? My current mechanic is nowhere to be found and the closest one lives in a bad neighborhood where I'd hate to leave my car over the weekend. Pretty much I need this to be looked at ASAP!

Re: choke light stays on
Well, today one of my mechanics finally got to it (after leaving the camaro at his shop for the weekend) and he seemed to have fix the problem.
He had to diagnose & repair the fuseable link wire at the starter for the alternator & choke.
He inspected the rest of the car and gave it the green light. I drove it afterwards for a while and it seemed to be running like a dream! Can't wait for that cruise nite
