Help , wire GURU'S !!!
o.k. guys , here's the problem . i bought a 88 s/c to replace my 89rs that got t boned . the h/s kid i bought it from was into boomers , i have no idea how many or what kind of sound systems he had in it . i have pulled many yards of excess wire from the car . splices had wire nuts on some of them . where the radio was looks like a bowl of colored noodles . original radio connectors are gone . can i swap connectors from my 89 into the 88 ? will the wires be the same colors ? i ask because i have found some other wires are not the same color from one to the other . ( i promise i will not use wire nuts ) i feel it should be o.k. . would like some feed back , don't think i am the only one to have had this problem . thanks for any comments .

what's stopping you from putting an aftermarket headunit in there? i've dealt with stock radios 2 times now in a honda and ford where you turn the **** for volume and it goes up and down irratically. stock ones are underpowered and have no features, and a cassette player should theoretically go in the camaro, but come on who has those nowadays.
go grab a jvc with built in hd radio, ipod adapter, mp3 capable, and so on... i got one like that which is sorta the top model below the one that had bluetooth for your phone for just 50 dollars brand new. it's $99.99 at crutchfield.com and you get a 50 dollar rebate from hdradio.com so it's like 50 dollars. i'm not trying to advertise but i think everyone should have one because i love mine for the price and the features. if you buy stuff adding over $129 you get free shipping, and usually they give you free installation accesories. plus you can connect stock style speakers, or replacements, or get any mild ones up to 50 watts max before you'll need a separate amp. then you can forget twitchy volume ***** and cassettes, and live in the 2000's.
just my opinion. i don't consider it boomy until you add a subwoofer.
this is my radio
